Global AEC software specialist Nemetschek Group has announced a strategic investment in US-based AI platform Handoff

Founded in 2019, Handoff uses AI automation to streamline estimating, proposals, client management and invoicing for contractors. It has over 10,000 monthly active users and $6bn in annualised project volume.

The platform leverages real-time pricing data from suppliers to automate back-office tasks and deliver accurate project estimates. Its intuitive design requires no complex setup, making it easy to adopt.

The funding will accelerate Handoff’s product development, expand platform features, and drive international growth.

Handoff is a venture-backed technology company with origins in Silicon Valley. Its in-person team currently operates from three global offices (Austin, Texas; São Paulo, Brazil; and Buenos Aires, Argentina) and comes from top technology companies such as Apple, Tesla and WeWork.

“Our mission is to put real-time construction data and smart AI agents in the hands of contractors,” said Dmitry Alexin, founder and CEO of Handoff.

“Partnering with Nemetschek validates our vision and will help us scale faster, reach more builders and improve how homes are built.”

Accelerating digital transformation

Nemetschek’s investment supports its broader venture strategy to accelerate innovation and digital transformation across the construction sector, particularly for small and medium-sized businesses.

Tanja Kufner, head of startups & venture investments at Nemetschek Group, said: “Handoff is bringing powerful AI to a segment long underserved by traditional software. We’re excited to support their growth and advance digital efficiency in residential construction.”

Founded by Professor Georg Nemetschek in 1963, the Nemetschek Group today employs over 4,000 experts globally and has more than 7m users of its solutions focused on artificial intelligence, digital twins and openBIM standards in the AEC/O industries.

The company, which has been listed in the MDAX and TecDAX since 1999, achieved a revenue of €995.6m and an EBITDA of €301m in 2024.
