BIM Africa has launched an open call to architects, engineers, designs and construction industry professionals to submit projects to the African Building Information Modelling Report 2024.

Building Information Modelling is transforming construction processes, fostering innovation and collaboration, pushing forward industry standards and enabling architects, engineers and contractors to work seamlessly together in a shared environment. In addition, this data-rich modelling facilitates better decision-making throughout the lifecycle of a structure, from design to demolition.

The African Building Information Modelling Report will showcase projects that have developed a revolutionary approach to sustainable design, implemented a collaboration process or pushed the boundaries of building IT using multiple programs.

The report aims to inspire others in the industry to embrace innovation and creativity, and to contribute to the development of BIM practices.

For projects to be eligible they must:

  • Be located in Africa.
  • Either be in progress or have been completed within the last two years.
  • Show evidence that specific BIM processes or standards are in place or that a digital delivery method has been used during one or more phases of the project.
  • Include sustainability considerations.

An expression of interest to submit a case study should be completed by 15 April, including a 120-word summary of the use of BIM.

Upon approval of the proposal, entrants will be asked to submit 800-1,000 words to BIM Africa by 30 April highlighting the following:

  • A brief background about the project/company.
  • Aspects of BIM use in the phases of the project lifecycle, along with any relevant images, videos or documentation.
  • Resources and standards used.
  • Explain the impact of using BIM on the success of the project or organisation.
  • Consider or adhere to evidenced aspects of sustainability or circularity.
  • State the UN Sustainable Development Goals to which the project aligns.
